The Mainland Trader is New Zealand's premier whitebait supplier to the hospitality industry and the general public delivering directly to customers nationwide home or workplace delivery.

We have the facility to store and carry product all year round to enable continuous supply for some of our ongoing hospitality customers.

The Mainland Trader operates under the strict guidelines and requirements of a food control plan to ensure the quality of our product and the safety of our clients and customers. Our Hygiene and cleaning regimen is paramount when it comes to the packaging storing and handling of our products. We have developed our own brand of hand sanitizer gel which is available for purchase through this store.

Our catch is a product of some of the mighty glacial fed rivers of South Westland New Zealand. We are  based in the "South Island"(The Mainland) of New Zealand.

Our Delivery Guarantee -  if the goods are not in excellent condition they will be returned to us at no cost to the customer.

Our delivery systems are excellent with zero hiccups and we deliver all over NZ(overnight).

Our minimum order is 3kg - 250gm packs

South Westland whitebait from the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand is regarded as the best on the planet. We can ensure the quality of our product plus competitive pricing.

New Season

The new national whitebait season is open between 1st September and 30 October (inclusive) in all areas of New Zealand except the Chatham Islands.

Old season 

The whitebait season is open between 15 August and 30 November (inclusive) in all areas of New Zealand except the West Coast of the South Island and the Chatham Islands.

The West Coast season commences 1st September and finishes 14th November.
